Student Expectations & Studio Policies

At Ballet Refreshed, our rules and policies are designed to create a positive, respectful, and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive. Our policies also help ensure a safe, welcoming, and encouraging space for all students and their families.

Students are expected to:

  • Demonstrate respect, good manners, and positive behavior at all times.

  • Attend all scheduled classes and rehearsals. Enrollment at Ballet Refreshed is a commitment to consistent participation and preparation.

  • Help keep the studio clean by picking up after themselves. Ballet Refreshed is a shared community space, and everyone plays a part in keeping it neat and welcoming.

  • Refrain from bringing food, gum, or sugary drinks into the studios. Water is always encouraged.

  • Miss no more than three classes per semester unless the absence is due to an emergency or illness.

  • Get plenty of rest, eat nutritious foods, stay hydrated, and do your best to prevent injuries.

Bullying Policy

Ballet Refreshed maintains a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, harassment, or disrespectful behavior. This includes teasing, excluding others, spreading gossip, or making fun of fellow dancers. Any student who engages in bullying may be subject to disciplinary action, including dismissal from the Academy. If you experience bullying or witness someone else being bullied, please notify a teacher or staff member immediately. Together, we can maintain a positive, inclusive environment where every dancer feels valued, respected, and supported.

Studio & Class Etiquette

To help create a positive, focused, and respectful learning environment, all students are expected to follow these studio guidelines:

  • Arrive 10–15 minutes early so you are prepared to begin class on time. If a studio is available, you are welcome to use the space to stretch or practice quietly before class.

  • If you must arrive late, wait quietly by the studio door until the instructor invites you into class. Enter quietly and warm-up briefly before joining the lesson.

  • Walk quietly through the classrooms and hallways. Any form of disruptive behavior is not permitted. Do not touch the barres, windows, or mirrors. Please respect the learning environment.

  • Remain in the studio for the entire class. If you need to leave for any reason, ask your instructor for permission first.

  • Treat teachers, staff, classmates, and families with kindness, courtesy, and respect at all times.

By following these expectations, we create a supportive atmosphere where every dancer can learn, grow, and succeed.

Parent Handbook

We value the partnership between our studio and our families. The following policies help create a positive experience for everyone.

  • Ballet Refreshed maintains a Lost & Found. Please check it periodically for missing items. Unclaimed items will be donated at the end of each semester.

  • Help us maintain a positive and encouraging studio culture by refraining from negative comments, gossip, or disrespectful discussions about students, parents, faculty, or staff. Children learn by example.

  • Please drop off and pick up your child on time. If you anticipate being late, notify the studio as soon as possible.

  • If a student misses a class, they may schedule a makeup class in another class of the same or similar level, if available, with approval from the instructor or Director.

  • The Director and faculty have the final authority regarding class placement, evaluations, casting, rehearsal assignments, and performance participation. We ask that families respect these professional decisions.

  • Student accounts must remain current to participate in performances. Performances are optional; however, students who choose to participate are required to pay the applicable performance fee.

  • Students are expected to miss no more than three classes per semester unless the absence is due to an emergency or illness.

  • Students are placed according to their individual readiness, technical ability, strength, maturity, and overall development—not solely by age or previous dance experience. Ballet Refreshed follows its own curriculum, and each level builds on the previous one to ensure proper technical progression.

  • Siblings are welcome at Ballet Refreshed. For everyone's safety, children who are not in class must be supervised by an adult at all times. Please help keep our studio clean by picking up toys and belongings after use.

  • Enrollment in Ballet Refreshed classes (L1-L6) is a commitment for the full semester. If you need to withdraw, please provide a written 30-day notice. Tuition is non-refundable, except in cases of documented serious illness or injury approved by the studio.

  • Ballet Refreshed communicates important information primarily through email. It is the responsibility of each family to provide a current email address and regularly check for studio updates, especially during performance and recital seasons.

  • We welcome your questions, concerns, and suggestions. Please contact the studio by email or arrange a conference with a member of our staff if you would like to discuss your child's training or any studio matters.
